Why is a high-quality bicycle helmet important?
A helmet significantly reduces the risk of head injuries in accidents. Modern bicycle helmets combine safety with comfort and individual style.
Protection against serious injuries
Head injuries are one of the most common and dangerous consequences of bicycle accidents. A certified helmet (e.g., according to EN 1078 or NTA 8776 for S-pedelecs) reduces the risk of traumatic brain injury.
Modern helmets use shock-absorbing materials and multi-layer shell constructions that effectively distribute impact energy.
Legal requirements in Switzerland
In Switzerland, helmets are not mandatory for e-bikes up to 25 km/h – but from 45 km/h (S-pedelecs) onwards, an NTA 8776-certified helmet is required.
Even though it is not mandatory, a helmet protects you in the event of falls, collisions, or even falling branches—especially in city traffic or on uneven paths.

How to find the right bicycle helmet
Helmet size is indicated by head circumference (in cm). At Casco, you will find models that cover head circumferences from approximately 48 cm to 64 cm. To determine your size, measure your head circumference as follows:
- Place a measuring tape around your head, about 1 cm above your eyebrows and over your ears.
- Measure the circumference in centimeters.
Tip: If you don't have a tape measure, you can also use a ribbon or string and then measure it with a ruler.
The fit: How the helmet should sit
- A well-fitting helmet is neither too loose nor too tight. Pay attention to the following points:
- The helmet should sit horizontally on the head and not tilt backward.
- The forehead should be covered up to about 1–2 cm above the eyebrows.
- The chin strap must be tight enough that no more than one finger can fit between the strap and your chin.
- No pressure on the temples or back of the head; the helmet should fit evenly without pressing.
Tips for an optimal fit
