In der Schweiz darf die Variante bis 250 kg Gesamtgewicht führerscheinfrei ab 16 Jahren gefahren werden.
In Deutschland gelten Cargo E-Bikes mit Unterstützung bis 25 km/h rechtlich als Fahrräder: sie dürfen ohne Führerschein und von Personen jeden Alters gefahren werden, sofern die sichere Teilnahme am Strassenverkehr gewährleistet ist.
